Fixing SCUBA equipment carries inherently risks. Doing it wrong will kill someone.
A competent SCUBA technician should have:
- The latest factory approved service manual for the piece of equipment he intents to work on.
- Genuine spare parts and/or service kits.
- All tools necessary for the particular job as specified in the service manual.
- Hold a certification from the manufacturer, DITC, A.S.S.E.T., IDEST, PSI, or similar.
Having just the service manual in front of you does not make you an expert. Don't be an idiot and ask someone more knowledgeable when in doubt.
